Can yoga be done at any age and at any fitness level?
Yes.  You start where you are and improve as you go. Yoga with All Ages can work with you standing, sitting, on the floor and/or using props to make your yoga sessions enjoyable and productive.

What benefits will I get from practicing yoga?
You will increase your strength, flexibility and ability to achieve deep relaxation.  Some health benefits include improved circulation, lower blood pressure, reduced fatigue, improved respiration and peace of mind.

What kind of yoga do you teach?
There are as many different kinds of yoga as there are dances!  I hold 2 national fitness certifications and bring my yoga fitness background to my more traditional yoga training. I am trained by teachers in the Hatha and Iyengar styles of yoga.  For me, I draw upon my knowledge gained from my Iyengar teachers to help students stay in proper alignment as they practice and develop strength. I draw upon my personal experience from working with my Hatha teachers to help my students learn to use their breath and move their body with it.  I am a big advocate for the relaxation part of the class. It is just as important as all the others, and it helps set all the good you did in your body.  Over time, you will also gain an appreciation for letting it all go…even if it is for only 15 minutes.

What if I want to take a class but you don't offer it when I can come?
Call or email us with your interest and when you would like to have which class format.  We will start a new class where possible or keep your information and let you know when new classes open. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 865.986.YOGA.

Have you worked with people who have fibromyalgia, MS, Lupus, CP and /or Arthritis?
Yes. I have done additional training to work with people with special needs to improve their quality of life. We do a lot through use of the breath and allow the body to unfold slowly in its own time with support.

Where are you located?
Yoga for All Ages classes are taught in Knox, Blount & Loudon counties at different times throughout the year; however, most classes are taught in Farragut/Lenoir City areas.  Call to discuss your particulars as it relates to the location(s) best for you, 865.986.YOGA.

Can I drop in?
No. Class size is limited and so is parking so we have to limit class size.  The good news is you get more personalized attention in class.  The only exception to this is the Thursday, 6:30 p.m. class which is located at STAR and parking is ample. ( class resumes September 2009)

What if I have to miss a class?
If you are paying as you go, if you notify us within 24 hrs. of the missed class you will not be charged.  If you have purchased the Discount Class Ticket, there are 2  freebie makeups per class ticket...no cost to you. (8 classes purchased at a time at the discounted price) 10 weeks to use the 8 classes.

What do I wear?

Comfortable clothes that you can move easily in.

Do you wear shoes?
It is suggested that you do the class in your bare feet, but you may also do it in your sock feet if you like.  Breathe, Stretch and Relax is best this way too, but can also be done in tennis shoes if desired.

Can I do yoga if I am not flexible or have pain?
Yes! However, Be sure to check with your physician before beginning any exercise program.  There are no pretzels at Yoga for All Ages. Yoga is moving your body with your breath and all of us can do that at the level we can today. As you practice and move gradually, day by day, week by week, you will make progress and improve how you feel.

Will we be doing poses I see in magazines?
Most poses on the news stands are advanced poses that may or may not be done.  There are always options and most students are not at the level to do these artistic, beautiful and challenging poses.  I can also recommend other studios for more advanced & intense work.

Can you recommend other teachers in the area who specialize in certain types of yoga?
Yes! There are so many different kinds of yoga and each teacher brings their own personality and experience to instructing their students. I am happy to listen to what you are looking for and help you find a class with us or with other teachers in the area.  There is yoga for you!
